FutureSelf: Smoking Cessation Project
The VAR Lab helped support the development of the FutureSelf Smoking Cessation Project in collaboration with researchers at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea, through its College of Software Convergence and Department of Immersive Media Engineering.
The project uses AI, 3D facial reconstruction, age progression, LLM-powered dialogue, and Unreal Engine 5 MetaHuman technology to create an interactive future-self avatar. The goal is to make the long-term effects of smoking feel more personal, vivid, and emotionally connected.
By combining virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and health education, the project explores how immersive technology can support smoking cessation, motivation, and future-focused behavior change.
