The Aerial Operations Studio at VAR Studios is thrilled to unveil the latest addition to our suite of cutting-edge tools: the Skydio X2E, a remarkable blend of sophisticated design and advanced technology. Acquired in July 2023, this intelligent aerial tool is set to significantly expand our research and innovation potential. 

The Skydio X2E is purposefully designed for industrial asset inspection and construction site mapping. Its breakthrough autonomy software and rugged, foldable airframe allow for effortless transportation and up to 35 minutes of flight time. Equipped with six 4K navigation cameras, it ensures 360° obstacle avoidance, and its dual sensor payload includes a 12MP color camera and a FLIR® 320×256 thermal sensor. 

Notably, the Skydio X2E is proudly designed, assembled, and supported in the USA, providing a higher degree of supply chain security. This new drone will be stationed in VAR Studios’ space within the Merwin Building in Knowledge Park on the Penn State Behrend campus, promising to unlock unprecedented opportunities for various projects within the region.
