Project Description

Replica Liberty Bell Scan: 3D Digitization for Acoustic Research

The VAR Lab used an Artec Eva structured-light scanner to 3D scan the replica of the Liberty Bell located in the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Center (AMIC).

This project was completed in collaboration with Applied Research Lab at University Park as part of research exploring how the bell’s metal thickness relates to frequency and sound. By creating a detailed 3D model of the bell, the scan provides digital geometry that can support further analysis, measurement, and visualization.

The final visualization was created in Blender and shows the scanned bell in three forms: wireframe geometry, solid mesh, and fully rendered model. This project highlights how reality capture and 3D digitization can support research across engineering, acoustics, manufacturing, and digital visualization.
