As part of her Fulbright research at the VAR Lab, Bibiana Mayer Steckel is leading a project focused on understanding brain activity during immersive virtual reality experiences.
Together with Dr. Christopher R. Shelton, in collaboration with Dr. Erica Edwards, and with the support of Maya Alhasan, the team is investigating best practices for EEG data collection in VR environments using the BIOPAC Systems, Inc. EEG cap and AcqKnowledge software.
Currently, the team is adapting the lab’s EEG cap setup for use with a head-mounted display, an important step toward expanding possibilities for Brain- Computer Interface research and improving the quality of neurophysiological data collected during VR tasks.
Exciting work ahead as we continue in tegrating neuroscience and immersive technologies!
